Breakfast is the 1st meal of the day, and some say, the most important.  Personally, it's my favorite food group.  I'm searching country for the best the morning has to offer from the world's connoisseurs of breakfast, Innkeepers.  Join me Inn The Kitchen to find the sweetest and most savory recipes and I'll also give you a taste of what it's like to be an Innkeeper.

Some people ask how this whole thing got started.  A little irony for you.  I am an Innkeeper.  However, my Inn doesn't actually serve breakfast.  We're not zoned for it.  But the local lodging association and other bed & breakfast owners embraced us and our "vacation" cottages, welcoming us with open arms into their family.

One unbearably hot and empty summer, all of us got together to brain storm marketing ideas over a refreshing pitcher of  iced tea. Or maybe it was wine?  It had to be wine, that's what really gets the creativity flowing.  Anyway, the idea of blogging came up and since I was the youngest person in the room ... and most people in our town thought that blogs were for 14 year old's and insomniacs, I became the designated blogger.  That summer,  Innside Story was born.

I traveled all of 3 blocks to each our town's b&b's.  I stayed the night (which was kind of weird, but fun, being so close to home) and wrote about each experience on the blog.  I updated posts with recipes from the Inns, town events, and any backyard tourist type of activity.  The blog became popular and a few guests coming into town asked some of the innkeepers, "Is Rachelle a real person?"  I most certainly am!

What I enjoyed the most was getting to know our lodging family even more and learning some valuable cooking skills from some of these retired chefs.  You see, breakfast has always been my favorite meal, but before some cooking lessons from these guys I had a reputation for setting the house on fire just by making toast.

I got the travel bug for road trips, so anytime we went anywhere I would always choose to stay at a B&B and would collect breakfast recipes along the way.  And so through my passion for breakfast, inns and travel, a small recipe category on Innside Story evolved to Inn The Kitchen.  I hope you enjoy!
